May 26, 2021: The Canadian men’s sitting volleyball team is competing at the 2020 Men’s Final Qualifier in Duisburg, Germany, June 1 to 5.
Canada opens its tournament against host country Germany on June 01, followed by a match that same day versus Kazakhstan.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to play in the qualifier with the chance to join our women’s team in Tokyo this summer,” said Jeff Smith, men’s head coach. “It’s been a long hiatus for us so we’re looking forward to being able to compete and showcase our hard work on the court.”
Teams from Germany, Canada, Croatia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and USA are competing for the coveted final spot for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
This event was originally planned to take place in 2020. World ParaVolley and the local organizers have been working very closely together to ensure that all COVID-19 risk assessments are carried out, and that all risk mitigations are in place to be able to host an event that is as safe as possible for all participants.
