BUL M: Hebar end Neftohimik’s 4-season title streak and win historical championship crown

Published on

Hebar Pazardzhik won the historic first men’s championship title of Bulgaria.

After prevailing in Game 3 of the 2020/21 Bulgarian Men’s WINBET Superliga playoff finals against 3rd-seed Neftohimik 2010 Burgas by a 3-1 (21-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-14), Hebar Pazardzhik added the championship title to the previously won award for the regular-season winners. The players coached by Aleksandar Popov thus broke the 4-season title streak of Neftohimik and took revenge on them for losing in the last playoff finals that were held prior to the coronavirus pandemic.

Canadian Bradley Gunter was Hebar’s leader in a decisive game, scoring 22 points. Teodor Todorov set up 4 blocks, while Petar Karakashev made 80 % reception (10 digs, 50 % excellent). Zhani Zhelyazkov tallied 15 points for Neftohimik.
