Brock University’s Sara Rohr of the women’s volleyball team was named a finalist for the U SPORTS Female Athlete of the Year on Thursday, May 23.

A graduate student from Milton, Rohr is one of four female student-athletes in contention for the title, which will be awarded at a ceremony on Monday, June 10, in Calgary.

Finalists include Rohr, Jayda Veinot (basketball) of the University of New Brunswick, Laval University’s Audrey Leduc (track and field) and Katalin Tolnai (soccer) of the University of British Columbia.

Rohr’s nomination follows a stellar season where she garnered numerous accolades at the setter position, including Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Female Athlete of the Year.

Rohr’s dominance on the court is highlighted by her leading the OUA and U SPORTS with 10.96 assists per set and amassing 643 total assists during the regular season, setting a new program record with 2,677 career assists.

The nominees for U SPORTS Male Athlete of the Year are Austen Keating (hockey) of the University of New Brunswick, University of Montreal’s Jonathan Sénécal (football), Max Davies (track and field) of the University of Guelph, and University of Alberta’s Isaac Heslinga (volleyball).
