On Friday, the Brock men’s volleyball team secured a victory in three straight sets to take down the Guelph Gryphons 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-20) at Bob Davis Gymnasium Nov. 26.
Senior outside hitters Logan House and Dean Globocki each led the way offensively for the Badgers. House registered 12 kills, followed by Globocki with 10, and first-year middle Jacob Ferland with six.
Ferland also picked up the only ace of the night for Brock.
“Overall, we did what we had to do tonight to scrape out a few sets. I thought we swung well but still need to control more of the first contact and decision making from the serving line,” said head coach Matt Ragogna. “Ferland controlled the middle of the court tonight, and Globocki held us strong in every rotation. Looking forward to another good matchup Sunday before the break.”
The Badgers honoured the Brock men’s rowing team before the game by presenting them with their 2021 Ontario University Athletics (OUA) rowing championship banner. The Brock rowing team captured nine medals on Oct. 30 to capture their first title in four years.
Friday’s home game was Brock’s last match at Bob Davis Gym before the holiday break. The Badgers (3-2) play their final game of 2021 in Guelph on Sunday, Nov. 28, at 3 p.m.
Second-year setter Grant Reddon was the set-up man for the Badgers, posting a match-high 30 assists. Jonathan Pickett was all around the court for the Gryphons leading their team in kills, aces, blocks, and digs.
Second-year libero Ethan Kalef led the Badgers with eight digs, and Mark Naqvi led with three blocks.
As a team, the Badgers dominated the match in almost every offensive category, such as points (43-31.5), kills (37-23), and assists (35-22).
