BRANDON, Man. – The Brandon Bobcats made it six straight sets to close out the Canada West conference season with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-23) trouncing of the Manitoba Bisons Saturday night.
The match saw seniors Jake Fleming and Liam Nohr recognized prior to first serve before the Bobcats sent the grads off in style.
Philipp Lauter continued his impressive rookie campaign registering 14 kills on just 24 swings, good for a .458 attack efficiency.
The rookie import also had four blocks to go with an ace and three digs.
Rylan Metcalf managed some timely points, especially from the service line notching two aces to go with three kills and nine digs.
Tom Friesen finished with nine kills on a team-high 31 swings while Fleming had a match-high 33 assists.
The win improves Brandon’s record to 9-9 and locks up second spot in the Canada West east division standings, with a narrow one-set edge over the Saskatchewan Huskies who share an identical 9-9 record.
The Bisons sit in fourth at 7-11 as both teams conclude the Canada West conference season.
The Canada West playoff opponents and locations will be determined as Saturday night’s results roll in across the conference.
