BLUES START OFF BACK-TO-BACK AGAINST LANCERS WITH WIN

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women’s volleyball team beat the Windsor Lancers 3-1 on Friday (Feb. 16) evening at the Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House.

Set scores in the match were 17-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-20.

After dropping the first set 25-17, the Blues went on to win three straight sets to beat the Windsor Lancers. While both teams played strong defense through the match, Toronto’s offence excelled, leading the Lancers in total attacks (182-161), assists (46-36) and service aces (10-4).

The outside hitters led the games for the Blues. Olivia Zhu recorded a game-high 19 points from 16 kills and three service aces. Julia Murmann followed with 15 points, registering 11 kills, three service aces, and one solo block. Rounding out the trio of top scorers was Giulia Chimilovski. The Toronto, Ont. native recorded 11.5 points from eight kills, two solo blocks, one service ace, and one block assist. 

The Blues offence was set up by the duo of Robin Melnick and Anna Arellano. Arellano led the team with 20 assists, with Melnick following shortly behind with 19. Libero Delaney Watson recorded a career-high 35 digs for the Blues.
 
Outside hitter Yalia Sealy led the Lancers with a team-high of 11 points from 11 kills.

The Blues will return to action on Saturday, February 17 when they return to the Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House to take on the Windsor Lancers in their final game of the regular season.
