The Toronto Varsity Blues maintained their position atop the OUA East division with a five-set win at York on February 26. Increasing their win streak to nine straight matches, the No. 4 Blues downed the Lions 26-28, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 15-9.
TORONTO STATS: Providing his high-flying attack, Evan Falardeau was once again a force at the net for the Varsity Blues. Registering 17 kills and totaling 17.5 points, the Startford, Ont. product often proved too much to handle.
Serving up three aces to go along with eight kills, Martin Licht scored 12.5 points for the Blues. Up the middle, Jakson Paterson tallied seven kills, as well as two solo blocks and a block assist.
Setting up the offence, setter Zane Grossinger and libero Daniel Tudor led Toronto with 10 digs each, while Grossinger finished with a game-high 43 assists.
UP NEXT: The Blues will return to Goldring Centre to finish off the last two matches of their 2021-22 OUA regular season schedule. Toronto will host the Nipissing Lakers on both March 4 and March 5. First serve on March 4 is set for 8:00 p.m.
