BLUES FALL TO LAKERS IN SATURDAY NIGHT MATCHUP

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women’s volleyball team fell to the Nipissing Lakers 3-1 in a rematch on Saturday (Nov. 25) night at the Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House.
 
Set scores in the match were 25-13, 21-25, 20-25, 23-25.  
 
The Blues took the lead in the first set 25-13, riding off their win from last night. However, despite their perseverance they fell in the following three tight sets. Despite the loss, the Blues led 157-139 in total attacks and defeated them in kills 69-59.

Third-year outside hitter Julia Murmann led the Blues offence with a game-high 23.5 points. Murmann, recording 22 kills, one service ace and one block assist. Fellow outside hitter Olivia Zhu finished the game with 20 points. She registered 17 kills, two service aces, and two block assists.

The Blues offence was setup by Robin Melnick who had a game-high 43 assists. Libero Delaney Watson led the team with 19 digs, with Murmann finishing close behind her with 18. 

The Lakers were led by outside hitter Oceane Raymond-Leduc who recorded 13 kills, two service aces, two solo block for 17 points. Kassandra Pavlic finished the game with 17 digs, while Logan Garvey recorded 37 assists.
 
The Blues return to action on Sunday (Dec. 3) evening against the York Lions. First serve is set for 6 p.m. The action can be streamed online via oua.tv.
