The Thunderbirds hit at a sparkling efficiency all night Saturday, led by Brynn Pasin’s nine kills on just 12 swings to go with no errors. Winnipeg product Erika Vermette also went error-free, putting up eight kills on 13 swings.
As a team the T-Birds hit .385 on the night, as Kayla Oxland ran a smooth offence, registering 21 assists to go with a match-high nine digs.
Brandon managed to keep the first set close, until UBC opened up a 19-15 lead at which point Brandon sided out, but it was all for not as the Thunderbirds answered right back with a 5-2 run to close the first.
The Thunderbirds found some momentum to start the second, running to a 15-9 lead. Brandon coach Lee Carter used both timeouts to try and stop the bleeding but the Bobcats could not find an answer, as UBC took it comfortably 25-15.
The third was all UBC, as a seven-point run put the Thunderbirds in control to close the match confortably.
Brandon was led by sophomore outside Avery Burgar, as the Sylvan Lake, Alta. product finished with nine kills.
The win keeps UBC’s perfect record to start the conference season intact at 4-0. Brandon falls to 0-4.
The Thunderbirds head back home to Vancouver to welcome the MacEwan Griffins for a weekend set while the Bobcats head to another Canada West powerhouse in the Alberta Pandas.
