The UBC Thunderbirds begin round one of the Canada West playoffs in Edmonton, Alberta as the No. 2 seed from the West division in Pool B play on March 3rd-5th.
The T-Birds open their first-round conference tournament against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies on Thursday, March 3rd, at 2:00 p.m. (PT), before taking on the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades on Friday at 2:00 p.m. (PT).
UBC closes out the opening round robin tournament against the host, and Central division No. 1 seed, Alberta Golden Bears on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. (PT). The top two teams from each of the three playoff pools will advance to Week 2 of the Canada West postseason.
The ‘Birds dominated the service line during the regular season, as Matt Neaves averaged a Canada West-leading 0.75 aces per set and Michael Dowhaniuk was second in the conference with 0.67 aces per set. Overall, the T-Birds were first in the conference with 2.43 aces per set and 136 total services aces and they’ll look to continue building on their consistency through the first week of the postseason.
