EDMONTON – Third-year Isaac Heslinga had a game-high 12 kills in a 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-20) Alberta Golden Bears victory over the rival Calgary Dinos Friday evening at the Saville Centre.
The win maintains the Bears placement in Canada West play, sitting in second with a record of 12-5. The Dinos drop to 7-10 and currently sit in 9th place.
Heslinga was a force, but equally as good was setter Sam Drybrough who had 33 assists and was as effective an offensive orchestrator as the #2 U SPORTS-ranked Bears could hope for in the contest. Louis Kunstmann led the way for the visiting Dinos, recording 11 kills and contributing two blocks in the losing effort.
The teams are back in action tomorrow night in the late window, as they wrap up their regular season series.
