The Brock Badgers men’s volleyball team clinched their third win of the season.
In a four-set match (19-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-17) against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Toronto, the Badgers were victorious thanks to Kylar Code’s team-leading 21 points off 17 kills, two aces and three blocks.
The Badgers dropped the first set 25-19 as the Varsity Blues started out the set with a 6-1 lead.
In the second set, Brock took an early 10-3 lead and built on it, going up by as much as 22-13. To clinch the frame, the Badgers scored three straight points of their own after the Varsity Blues did the same.
Brock took the third set by the same score of 25-16, with the set ending on a Devin Cooney kill and a service ace from Code.
Despite a late push from the Varsity Blues, the Badgers held on and secured a 25-19 victory in the fourth set, completing their comeback win with a block from Cooney.
Second-year setter Adam Shapcott led the team with 41 assists.
Jack Barrett’s two kills were both on point as he managed a hitting percentage of 1.000 while the team recorded a hitting percentage of .259 to Toronto’s .171.
Up next, the Brock Badgers men’s volleyball team will face the Guelph Gryphons at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre on Friday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. You can catch the action on OUA.tv.
