The Camosun Chargers are back-to-back PACWEST champions after a three-set sweep of the VIU Mariners on Saturday night winning 25-18, 25-17 and 25-22.
Offensively the Chargers were led by their All-Stars in Eduardo Bida and Brendan Folkerts. Bida had a match high 14 kills and was named the Player of the Match while Folkerts finished with 11. Setter Lucas Maffia run a very balanced and effective offence getting the ball in the right spot for the big hitters.
For the Chargers it’s their 11th gold medal in school history and will represent the PACWEST at the national championship at Humber College in Toronto in two weeks.
The Mariners played hard and never gave up claiming their ninth PACWEST silver medal. Daniel Mascarenhas was named the Player of the Match with seven kills while Lucus Torrs added four and was a constant threat. They will also join the Chargers at the national championship as they have earned the wildcard berth.
