WOLFVILLE – The Acadia Axewomen kicked off 2024 with a decisive 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-18) victory over the Dalhousie Tigers on Friday night in Wolfville.
Alexia Lemay-Evans (Azilda, ON) led all players with 14 kills and points in the match, finishing with a .345 kill percentage.
The Acadia offence ran through Charlotte Dean (Mississauga, ON) who finished with 32 assists and 10 digs. She also led the match with two aces.
Erica Fisher was also key on both sides of the ball (Middle Stewiacke, NS) finishing with nine points for the Axewomen, picking up seven kills and two blocks.
Starting outside-hitter Eve Collombin (Victoria, BC) was named the Axewomen player of the game, finishing with five kills, an ace and seven digs.
Dalhousie’s Hannah Ropret was their player of the game, coming off the bench as a setter to finish with seven assists and two digs.
The Tigers offence was evenly spread as four players finishing with three kills. Ella Hornby (Calgary, AB) led Dalhousie in points with her three kills, three blocks and an ace.
Friday night both teams return to action. Acadia hits the road when they travel to Halifax to face the Saint Mary’s Huskies (6-3). Dalhousie returns home to host the Moncton Aigles Bleues (5-5).
