The PACWEST is pleased to announce the volleyball Athletes of the Week following Week 8 of the regular season.
Female Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Emma Schill – VIU Mariners
A massive matchup between VIU and Douglas in Week 8 ended with two wins for the Mariners, and former Royal Emma Schill led the way for the Nanaimo squad. She was tops on the team in total offense, kills, and digs while adding three aces. She also showed consistency in both matches, with kill totals of 13 and 11 and even dig totals of 15 and 15 on Friday and Saturday. She also appeared in every set during the weekend and her veteran experience was a huge key in helping VIU dig deep in Saturday’s game and come back from being down 2-0 to a talented Royals squad.
Male Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Dylan Annala – COTR Avalanche
Dylan had a stellar statistical weekend for the Avs as they defeated the Camosun Chargers 3-0, 3-0 this past weekend in Cranbrook. Over the six sets against the Chargers, Dylan tallied 21 kills, 14 digs, seven blocks and brought consistent service pressure from the baseline. On Friday he had eight kills, six digs and four blocks and was the difference maker late in the first set as the Avs took control of the match. On Saturday in the rematch, he was even better with 13 kills, eight digs and three blocks to be the match’s top scorer as COTR ran their record to 12-2.
