Brock Carmichael, Volleyball

Brock Carmichael made the most of his final MCAC doubleheader in his hometown.
The fifth-year libero from Brandon led the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers men’s volleyball team to a pair of wins over the Assiniboine Community College Cougars (3-4), earning male athlete of the week.
According to CMU’s stats, Carmichael passed 2.29 out of three on Friday, then 2.43 on Saturday with 12 digs over the seven sets.
“Brock passed extremely well this weekend and as a result, we were in system a lot,” Blazers coach Don Dulder said. “Brock has worked so hard to improve his passing and his persistence has paid off. He is a leader in his final year, he’s passionate and he sets a good work ethic for the younger players.”
CMU sits atop the standings at 7-0, with a road game at the Université de Saint-Boniface (0-7) on Friday and a home match against Providence University College (4-3) on Saturday to close the semester.
ACC visits PUC on Friday, then USB on Saturday.
In MCAC basketball action, USB hosts CMU on Saturday to send the league into the break.
