After an exciting five set Mariners victory on Thursday these two schools meet again on Friday.
Last night after the Mariners won the first set 25-17, the Avalanche battled back to win the next two sets 25-20 and 25-15.
In the fourth set in front of a ruckus crowd the Mariners tied it with a convincing 25-14 victory. Then in the fifth they kept the momentum going and completed the comeback winning the fifth set 15-9 for their first win of the new campaign.
Douglas Royals @ CBC Bearcats – Friday October 20, 6:00pm | WATCH HERE
Both schools open the new PACWEST women’s volleyball season with high hopes.
The Royals are looking for a bounce back season with Lauren Bowman and Abbie Smith leading the charge. They will need to step up in the absence of Payton Henderson, Megan Jones and Ava Bosa who were offensive leaders last year. The Royals still have veteran head coach Jeff Ross at the helm who has a solid recruiting class including Ashley Rafferty from Fanshawe College in London Ontario.
Now with a year under her belt Bearcats head coach Rebecca Weibe has a better understanding on what she can do to help her student athletes prepare for a PACWEST season. She has veteran leader Janae Bruinsma back in the mix and she will be relied upon to create offensive opportunities. The Bearcats have recruited well and do have high expectations for the 2023-2024 season.
