For the second straight season the COTR Avalanche are PACWEST bronze medalists after an exciting three-set sweep over the fourth seeded Douglas Royals 25-18, 25-21 and 29-27.
The Avalanche offence was led by Player of the Match Gustavo Bertoli who was simply outstanding, leading the way with 14 kills and was dominant on the defensive side with several blocks and digs. Vittor Mateus in his final PACWEST match quarterbacked the offence to perfection getting multiple players involved and keeping the Royals on their heels. Ethan Braam came off the bench and was an instant sparkplug giving the Avalanche a new dimension.
For the Royals, its heartbreak as they leave another PACWEST championship empty handed. Veterans Greg Moore and Ben Shand played well in their final match. Moore had multiple blocks and collected three kills while Shand was a factor defensively. Libero Elijah St. Germain was named the Player of the Match.
Following their bronze medal win head coach Cisco Farrero spoke with Ryan Watters.
