January 25, 2024: Volleyball Canada will be hosting the Women’s Next Gen program at the National Training Centre in Richmond, BC. Training for this program is currently scheduled from May 22, 2024 until mid-August, and will provide identified athletes with a full-time training environment that focuses on technical and tactical development in line with our Senior A team.
Athletes will have access to a full coaching staff and integrated support team to guide their development and growth as a high-performance athlete. Potential competition opportunities include the 2024 Pan Am Final Six in the Dominican Republic June 21-30, and the 2024 Pan Am Cup in Mexico, August 21-31.
Volleyball Canada will select 14-16 athletes from across Canada with the attributes consistent with high performance and the potential to compete for Team Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team in the future.
“Volleyball Canada’s Next Gen Program is an entry point for any athlete wanting to represent Canada on the world stage and is key to the future success of the women’s program. This program enables us to identify athletes with the potential to make an impact for Canada over the next 4 years and work with them across the summer introducing them to Senior National Team systems and the expectations of being a National Team athlete. The Next Gen program also provides some of these athletes an opportunity to compete internationally in targeted events, which is critical for anyone aspiring to play for Canada in the pursuit of Olympic qualification and podium performances.”

The Women’s Next Gen Program will be hosting a two-step identification process. The first step is a virtual selection process on the GMTM platform until February 23. Athletes will be prompted to submit basic physical testing data, a highlights video and full game/set footage which will be reviewed by the selection committee. From there, 30-40 athletes will be invited to an in-person tryout April 30 at the Richmond Olympic Oval.
The 2024 virtual selection process is open to all eligible athletes.
