VIU Mariners

The PACWEST Player of the Year led the conference with 3.63 kills per set and 4.13 points per set, while she ranked third with 3.56 digs per set. Tormena, now a two-time CCAA All-Canadian, led the Mariners to a first-place finish in the PACWEST with a 24-0 record. The second-year outside hitter is a complete player who leads VIU offensively as well as defensively. Tormena has transitioned into a leader at VIU and contributes in the community by coaching youth in the Nanaimo area.

Groenendijk led VIU to a 24-0 record and first-place finish in the competitive PACWEST. The third-year outside hitter ranked third in the conference with 3.6 points per set and fourth with 3 kills per set. Groenendijk plays with passion and excitement and truly is the heart and soul of the Mariners. She is a great role model and ambassador for Women’s Sport and continues to work with Athletes in Action as she spreads her faith and volleyball knowledge with others across the country.

Ashley Erickson

Briercrest Clippers

Augustana Vikings

Erickson, a fifth-year setter, led the Clippers to a 22-2 record and first-place finish in the ACAC South Division. The ACAC Player of the Year ran Briercrest’s very potent offence and ranked second in the conference with 9.05 assists per set. Erickson, now a two-time CCAA All-Canadian, became the ACAC’s all-time leader in assists. The Clippers floor captain is a great competitor but also a selfless leader who serves her team extremely well with her incredible discipline and work ethic.

In her fifth and final year of eligibility, Metrunec led the Vikings to a tie atop the ACAC North Division standings with a 20-4 record. She is one of the most respected right-side hitters in Alberta and hits an extremely heavy ball. Metrunec, who also owns a rocket spin serve, ranked fourth in the ACAC with 48 service aces. She has a quiet strength about her and excels academically. Last season, Metrunec earned CCAA National Scholar Award and CCAA Academic All-Canadian honours.

Janelle Albert

Fanshawe Falcons

Durham Lords

The OCAA Player of the Year led the Falcons to a 17-1 record and first-place finish in the OCAA West Division. Albert, now a two-time CCAA All-Canadian, led the conference with 5.9 points per set and 4.89 kills per set. The third-year outside hitter is also one of the most proficient diggers in the OCAA. As captain, Albert holds her teammates accountable and helps to establish team standards that enhance cohesion and productivity. She loves to be challenged and success only increases her drive to improve.

For the second straight season, Joensen led Durham to the top of the OCAA East Division standings with a perfect 18-0 record. The Lords captain has proved to be a dominant force on the court and an exceptional leader. Joensen, a fourth-year outside hitter, ranked second on the team with 151 total points from 115 kills, 28 service aces and eight blocks. She also led the team defensively with 104 digs. Joensen is also active in the community, helping lead fundraising initiatives.

The RSEQ Player of the Year led the conference with 4.17 points per set as well as 75 blocks. Raymond, a third-year middle, led the Élans to a perfect 17-0 record and first-place finish in the RSEQ. In addition to contributing with her impressive offensive skills, she also manages the net extremely well. Raymond has developed into a true leader at Garneau and her unique combination of calmness and intensity is greatly appreciated by her coaches and teammates.

Flamand led the Élans to the top of the RSEQ standings with an unblemished 17-0 record. The third-year attacker led the conference with 3.32 kills per set, ranked second with 3.94 points per set and chipped in with 28 service aces. The passionate Flamand excels in receiving service and stabilizes the game defensively from the very first contact. She is agile and a natural in all facets of the game and has been extremely consistent for Garneau.

Marissa Macauley

Holland Hurricanes

St. Thomas Tommies

The ACAA Player of the Year led the Hurricanes to a perfect 18-0 record and first-place finish in the conference. Macauley, a third-year setter, led the ACAA with a whopping 7.87 assists per set and ranked third in the conference with 47 service aces. She is a hardworking, committed and determined athlete who leads her team with confidence and respect. Macauley’s drive and passion for volleyball allows her to push her teammates to perform to their highest ability.

Mills led the Tommies to a second-place finish in the ACAA with a 14-4 record. The fourth-year left side started all 18 matches for the Tommies and demonstrated that she can play both sides of the ball. Mills ranked second in the conference with 196 digs and placed among the Top 5 in the ACAA for points per set, kills per set and hitting percentage. She has developed into a leader on and off the court at St. Thomas.
