Max Haronga

Simon Friesen

The PACWEST Player of the Year led the Royals to a first-place finish in the conference with a 19-5 record. As a sophomore, Haronga transitioned from a freshman phenomenon into Douglas’ main offensive weapon, leading the PACWEST with 4.34 points per set, 3.62 kills per set and 40 aces. His quiet lead by example leadership role complimented an offensively potent Royals squad. Haronga is involved in various community service events which engages local high school volleyball programs and community club teams.

After finishing the regular season in a tie for second place with an 18-6 record, Friesen led the Blues to their first PACWEST Championship title since 2013. The fifth-year setter ranked second in the conference with 24 aces. Friesen, the 2018 CCAA Player of the Year, is now a three-time CCAA All-Canadian. In addition to being an exceptional athlete, Simon is a mature and responsible young man who leads by example and sets the standard for his teammates.

Karym Coleman

Joao Cunha

Briercrest Clippers

Keyano Huskies

The ACAC Player of the Year led the conference with 5 points per set and 4.36 kills per set. Coleman, a second-year right side, led the Clippers to 14-10 record in the competitive ACAC South Division. He is an extremely intelligent player who understands the game well, is confident in himself, and loves to compete. Coleman volunteers locally with the elementary school and helps coach the high school team; he is always extremely engaged with the students he works with.

Cunha, the ACAC North Division Rookie of the Year, led the conference with a .517 hit percentage and ranked among the Top 5 with 3.53 kills per set and 4.2 points per set. The outside hitter led the Huskies to a 19-5 record and second-place finish in their division. Cunha’s passion for the game is undeniable and his energy is infectious. He holds himself to a high-standard and his desire to win accompanied by his competitiveness is unmatched.

Jake Gomes

Liam Gray

Humber Hawks

Durham Lords

Gomes, a third-year setter, led the Hawks to a perfect 18-0 record and first-place finish in the OCAA West Division. The OCAA Player of the Year set his teammates to the highest team swing percentage in the conference. He averaged 8.1 assists per set and became the first player in Humber history to record 1,000 career assists. Gomes, who works with numerous youth volleyball camps, is the ultimate team player and an integral piece to the Hawks success.

Gray led the Lords to an incredible turnaround season – a 16-2 record and first place finish in the OCAA East Division, one year removed from a 2-16 record. The fifth-year setter placed third in the conference with 8.79 assists per set and ranked among OCAA leaders with 51 service aces. Gray, now a three-time CCAA All-Canadian, holds OCAA single game, single season and career records for service aces. The Durham veteran is a true leader and the definition of consistency.

Guillaume Bisson

The RSEQ Player of the Year led the conference with 3.9 kills per set, 4.96 points per set and 36 aces. Bisson, a third-year attacker, led the Griffons to a 14-6 record and second-place finish in the RSEQ. With the combination of his athletic talent and the leadership role he has inherited at Outaouais, Bisson has developed into a standout player in the RSEQ. Bisson’s exceptional work ethic and dedication have rendered him an outstanding ambassador for the Griffons program.

Vanier led the Volontaires to a 15-5 record and first-place finish in the RSEQ. The third-year middle led the conference with 73 blocks and placed fourth with 3.63 points per set. Vanier also led Sherbrooke to a tournament title at the Niagara Invitational. He has an outstanding work ethic and is a student-athlete who leaves nothing to chance in his preparation both on and off the court. Julien is also involved in running clinics with young players in the region.

The ACAA Player of the Year led the Tommies to a 12-3 record and first-place finish in the conference. Christie, a third-year left side, led the ACAA with 4.2 points per set and 29 service aces, while he ranked second with 3.37 kills per set. He leads by example on the court and in the classroom and is the embodiment of student-athlete. Christie has been honoured as a CCAA Academic All-Canadian and is a two-time recipient of the CCAA National Scholar award.

Jacques led the ACAA with 3.5 kills per set and placed second overall with 4.0 points per set. The left side also ranked among conference leaders in hitting percentage, service aces, digs and blocks. Jacques’ most impressive attributes are his determination and perseverance. In his fifth and final year of eligibility, he has shaped his career by fighting through injuries and continuously putting in the work in the gym to take care of his body.
