TORONTO – Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Athletics is pleased to welcome Julie Moore to the women’s volleyball team for the 2022-23 season.
Moore, who will be pursuing a Masters degree in Fashion in Toronto, has 12 years of high-level experience in the sport under her belt. The athlete is coming off of four years spent playing at Dalhousie University, where she fulfilled the role of team captain and majored in Commerce.
She has also competed for Team Nova Scotia at the Canada Games, as well as represented Team Canada at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Games, and on the Jr. National and the Youth National teams.
Moore describes herself as a “dynamic outside hitter”, and says that the highlights of her athletic career so far include winning four Atlantic University Sport (AUS) championships with Dalhousie, as well as playing for Canada at the FISU Games in Napoli, Italy.
Moore’s accomplishments continue to extend beyond those highlights, however. The player is a two-time U SPORTS Second-Team All-Canadian, a four-time AUS First-Team All-Star, Dalhousie MVP, AUS Championship MVP, and recipient of the Academic All-Canadian Award. In her rookie season, Moore was also named AUS Rookie of the Year and made the U SPORTS All-Rookie Team, as well as the AUS All-Rookie Team.
When she isn’t playing volleyball, the athlete enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking and playing spike ball, and says her favourite professional athlete is Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard.
“I wanted to continue my education at a university with both an amazing academic and athletic program,” Moore says, on joining TMU’s women’s volleyball program.
The athlete will bring added veteran presence to a well-rounded, enthusiastic and hard-working team this upcoming season.
