The PACWEST announces the Volleyball Athletes of the Week following the opening weekend of the regular season.
Women’s Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Aimee Skinner – VIU Mariners
Outside hitter and reigning Conference Rookie of the Year Aimee Skinner started off the new season on fire as she counted 37 kills and contributed defensively over two road wins in a tough barn at College of the Rockies. In Friday’s 3-2 win, she earned team-highs in kills (21) and solo blocks (5) while adding an ace and 16 digs, willing the Mariners to a season opening victory. On Sunday, she scored 16 kills, three aces, a block, and nine digs as VIU swept COTR to move to 2-0. She also passed well, earning 2.1 & 2.4 pass stats.
Men’s Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Lachlan Scherger – Camosun Chargers
Lachlan starts the season with an impressive showing against the Capilano Blues. On night one, he was the highest point scorer with 11 kills, two aces and two blocks with 15 total points. Night two, he shut down the Capilano offense with six blocks and contributed an additional six kills and had an ace.
