The full match schedule for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games Men’s and Women’s Sitting Volleyball Tournaments has been confirmed. Competition will begin on 27 August, three days after the Opening Ceremony, and will end on 5 September, the final day of the Paralympics.
The Tokyo 2020 Paralympics have been postponed for a year in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Hosts Japan will get the action going at the Makuhari Messe Hall A on Friday, 27 August. The Japanese women’s team will face Italy while the men’s side will take on reigning European champions RPC.
Reigning women’s Paralympic champions United States will start their campaign on Saturday, 28 August, against 2019 African champions Rwanda. Their rematch against Rio 2016 runners-up China is slated on 30 August. Men’s Paralympic and world champions Iran will first see action against Germany on 28 August.
The preliminary rounds will end on Tuesday, 31 August, for the men’s side and on Wednesday, 1 September, for the women’s tournament.
Men’s classification and semifinal matches will begin on 2 September, while women’s classification and semifinals will follow on 3 September.
Men’s bronze and gold medal matches, as well as the women’s bronze medal game are slated on 4 September, while the women’s final will close out Tokyo 2020 on 5 September.
