Defending Champions, the TWU Spartans, fought their way to a fifth-place finish after taking the win in the U SPORTS Men’s Volleyball consolation final, defeating the Laval Rouge et Or in four sets (26-24, 23-25, 25-16, 25-18).

Despite trailing through the beginning of the first set, the Spartans stood firm and took the set with a narrow 26-24 victory. They continued their impulsion to the win, with a particularly dominant performance in the third set.
In the loss, the Rouge et Or put up the stronger defensive effort at the net. As a team they recorded 12 blocks—seven of which were solo—to TWU’s nine. Johnathan Gerard led the team in blocks with four solo and three assisted, earning him Laval’s Player of the Game.
Henry Rempel paved the way in the Spartan’s victory. Rempel accrued 15 kills with a hitting percentage of .265. The First Team All-Canadian also added three service aces.
All-Rookie Team member Piers De Greeff put up an impressive effort matching Rempel’s three service aces. The outside also captured nine kills.
As a team, TWU had a commanding offense with 56 kills, a hitting percent of .351, and ten service aces.
