ST. CATHARINES – Welcoming the York Lions to Bob Davis Gymnasium on Friday night, the No. 3 nationally ranked women’s volleyball team earned a quick three set victory on home court. Set scores for the match were 25-17, 27-25, 25-14.
The win marks the 12th of the season for the Badgers, drawing level with the Waterloo Warriors at the top of the OUA standings, while marking their fifth consecutive win versus the Lions.
Three Badgers finished the night with over 10 points, led offensively by 12 points from Sadie Dick and Emily Foest, followed by 10.5 from Grace Pyatt. Dick tallied 11 kills and two block assists, while Foest notched 10 kills and two service aces. Dominating at the net, Pyatt finished with eight kills, one solo block, and three block assists.
Setter Sara Rohr contributed another solid performance with 20 assists. Defensively, the Badgers outlasted the Lions with a season-high 12 digs from Madison Chimienti and another 11 from libero Aleiah Torres.
On the other side of the ball it was second-year outside hitter Alisa Trubuyuk being the only Lion to record double-digit points.
Tomorrow’s contest is pivotal for the Badgers as they push for the top of the OUA standings with another match versus the Lions at Bob Davis Gym. First serve is set for 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at brocku.universitytickets.com, with the match also available to watch online at OUA.TV.
