KINGSTON, Ont. (Jan. 27, 2024) – Queen’s Women’s Volleyball adds another win to the tally, defeating McMaster in 4 sets (18-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-12) Saturday night at the ARC.
In an electric volleyball showdown against the Marauders, the Gaels faced an early setback with a tough loss in the first set. Unfazed by the challenge, Queen’s was able to launch a determined comeback that would define the remainder of the match. The Gaels rallied fiercely in the following three sets to close the match on top.
Hannah Duchesneau notched an impressive 14 kills, while Amanda Siksna and Mary Stewart also hit double digits contributing 11 kills apiece. Setting the stage for effective plays, Shea Baker registered 39 assists. Siksna and Lauren Mellon demonstrated exceptional serving, both tallying three aces, while Baker added two aces to the mix. “Our serving game was on point,” Hannah Duchesneau would say in a post-game interview. “I thought we had a great weekend. We were able to pull through for the win and our team just keeps growing.”
With the victory, the Gaels improved their record to 13-2 on the season. Queen’s is on the road for their next match Friday, February 2nd, at 6:00 PM to face the Lakehead Thunderwolves in Thunder Bay, Ont.
