BOX SCORE KINGSTON, On (November 19, 2023) Queen’s comes out on top in 5 sets (21-25,25-20,17-25,25-18,15-11) against Brock in second game of a weekend doubleheader.
After facing a tough loss against the Badgers last night, the Gaels were seeking a comeback. In the first set, Brock jumped to an early lead. The Gaels began to find their groove with an ace from Lauren Mellon, and a huge kill from Hannah Duscheneau forced the Badgers into timeout. The Gaels were later able to close in on the Brock lead, coming within just one point. Despite this, the Badgers reached set point first and were able to finish the set on top at 25-21.
Queen’s opened the second set strong, building an incredible 11 point lead before the Badgers began making any progress. While the Badgers attempted to claw their way back into the game, the Gaels came out on top 25-20.
The third set was a back-and-forth battle. While Queen’s put up a good fight, Brock took the win. The Gaels and the Badgers kept each other on their toes in the fourth set as both sides traded points. With the help of some crazy blocks and kills, Queen’s gained momentum and walked away victorious at 25-18.
Queen’s jumped to an early 3-point lead in the 5th set before Brock managed to get a point in. With the crowd cheering them on, Queen’s took the set 15-11, closing the game.
Hannah Duscheneau led the Gaels offensively with 26 kills. When asked how they adapted their strategy since yesterday, Duscheneau said the team capitalized on their team strengths, on servicing, on setting and on offensive plays. “It’s awesome to be able to show queen’s wht queens women’s volleyball is,” she expressed.
The Gaels’ record improved to 5-1 with the win. Queen’s is back on the court to face the Lancers in Windsor, December 1 at 6:00PM.
