Providence University College (PUC) Pilots Noah Boschman and Sebastian Verdaguer were selected as 2023 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball All-Canadians.

This is the first time for Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) men’s volleyball players honoured with national All-Canadian recognition.

Boschman already earned 2022-23 MCAC Player of the Year and All Conference selection. The first year left side was part of the 2023 MCAC champion squad. In 18 regular season matches played, the Grunthal, MB native ended first in MCAC kills at 213 and first in MCAC kills per set at 4.18 plus first in MCAC service aces at 46, first in MCAC service aces per set at 0.90, second in conference hitting percentage at .397 while tied for fifth in MCAC total blocks along with Week 11 and 18 MCAC plus CCAA Athlete of the Week

“Noah was lights out this year. Not only earning Athlete of the Week for MCAC/CCAA, but also MCAC All Conference and MCAC Player of the Year, Noah is deserving of being named CCAA All-Canadian,” enthused PUC Pilots head coach Cody Quiring. “Noah produced one of the highest level and efficient statistical years the MCAC has seen from a men’s volleyball player in recent years in addition to being a top or near the top in several stat categories across the nation. What makes Noah great is his ability to strive to understand the game plan, dedication to his craft on the court, in the video room and in the weight room. We are proud that Noah was in the first class in history of MCAC volleyball All Canadians!”

Verdaguer is in his first year at the middle position and part of the 2023 the 2023 MCAC champion team. During the 2022-23 regular season, the Melbourne, Australia native was first in MCAC with a .491 hitting percentage while also sixth in MCAC kills per set at 2.63 along with a 2022-23 All Conference selection.

“Sebastian has produced an extremely efficient year from the middle. His presence offensively was dominate and allowed the team overall to be much more efficient just based off opponents respecting his play,” exclaimed PUC Pilots head coach Cody Quiring. “As the year went one, Seb grew his game to another level and it showcased at the MCAC playoffs with taking home the semi-finals player of the game. And then the MCAC finals came around where Seb absolutely took control at the net both offensive and defensively. We are proud of the way Seb has adjusted to the Providence volleyball program from coming to us from Australia and we are proud that two Providence men’s volleyball players could take the honors in the first year of MCAC All Canadians being recognized nationally!”

Providence is the MCAC champion and representative at the 2023 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball National Championship hosted by Humber College in Toronto, ON from March 8-11. PUC’s  first match is against Camosun Chargers on Wednesday, March 8 at 11 a.m. CT in the quarter-final.
