In addition, Lethbridge is one of 14 players who has been named 2023 CCAA Men’s Volleyball All-Canadians. See the full list below.
The student-athletes were honoured at the 2023 CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship, hosted by Humber College in Etobicoke, Ont.
“Sebastian is arguably the most decorated Men’s Volleyball player in Fanshawe Falcons’ history,” said Ray Sarkis, CCAA Men’s Volleyball Convenor. “He brought his game to a new level this season as he returned to Fanshawe for his final year of eligibility.”
Lethbridge captained the Falcons to a 16-2 record and first-place finish in the competitive Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) West Division. One year ago, in a COVID-shortened season, the Falcons were 5-5.
“He has changed our team in an unbelievable way,” said Patrick Johnston, Head Coach of the Falcons. “Our captain, our pulse, the heart and soul of the program, Sebastian is the impact player in the CCAA.”
The fifth-year setter recorded 443 assists, 95 digs, 17 blocks and 22 digs this season.
Lethbridge, who will compete in this week’s CCAA Championship, has already captured the CCAA trifecta, earning a gold medal in 2019, silver in 2018 and bronze in 2016. Always a leader on the court, Lethbridge also earned the CCAA Exemplary Leadership Award at the 2019 CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship in Red Deer, Alta.
For the past six years, Lethbridge has coached the London Volleyball Club (LVC) Competitive Boys team. At the LVC, he also runs a Setter Academy for youth and coaches Summer Camps. In addition, he has assisted with the Volleyball Canada Excellence Program, which is run at Fanshawe, and has assisted with the Academy for Student Athlete Development, a partnership with TVDSB/LDCSB and Fanshawe College.
Lethbridge is expected to join the Falcons coaching staff next season as an assistant coach.
