MONTREAL – Victoria Iannotti of St. Laurent, Que., was named as both, most valuable player and most impactful player of the McGill University women’s volleyball program at the team’s annual awards gala, a brunch held on April 14, at the Universal restaurant in the downtown area.

Beliveau, who upped her lifetime overall record to 718-567-2 in 33 years (32 seasons) at the Martlets helm, had a team roster composed of five freshmen, one sophomore, two juniors and 10 seniors.

This was the last official function for 10 graduating seniors, the team’s largest ever departing class. The group includes co-captains Charlène Robitaille and Victoria Iannotti, in addition to Clara Poiré, Audrey Trottier, Melanie Dormann, Meaghan Smith, Brook Brown, Olivia Krishnan, Rio Pesochin and Masha Solaja.

The Martlets posted a 19-9 mark during the 2023-24 campaign, including a 10-1 record at home and a 15-6 second-place finish in the five-team RSEQ conference. They qualified for playoffs for the seventh time in eight seasons but with Iannotti, who was sidelined for the post-season, the Martlets were swept by third-seeded Sherbrooke (15-6) in a best-of-three semifinal series.
