KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 26, 2024) – Hannah Duchesneau and Jude Wheeler-Dee have been named the Queen’s University Varsity Sports Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances with Queen’s Women’s Volleyball and Queen’s Distance Track this past weekend.
Duchesneau (Sharon, Ont.) had a strong game offensively for the No. 2 ranked Gaels in their 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-20) win over the Nipissing Lakers in the OUA Quarterfinals, finishing with a game-high 17 kills and .652 hitting percentage in the win. Duchesneau added two digs, one ace, and one assist in the big win to open their playoffs run.
Queen’s Women’s Volleyball will continue their post-season, hosting the No. 3 ranked McMaster Marauders Friday at 6 p.m. at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC) in the OUA Semifinals. Tickets for the game are on sale now and can be purchases at the ARC on game day or online on the Queen’s Gaels Tickets Webpage.
Wheeler-Dee (Kingston, Ont.) had a strong weekend at the OUA Track & Field Championships in Windsor, Ont. this past weekend. Wheeler-Dee earned three medals at the conference championships, grabbing a silver medal in the Men’s 1,000M event and bronze medal in the Men’s 1,5000M event. Wheeler-Dee’s third medal came as part of the Gaels’ 4X800M relay team, which captured a silver medal.
Queen’s Distance Track will close out their season at the U SPORTS Track & Field Championships, March 7-9 in Winnipeg, Man.
