SASKATOON, SK – The Saskatchewan Huskies hosted the Thompson Rivers WolfPack Saturday afternoon for game two of their weekend series. After falling to the WolfPack in the fifth set on Friday evening, the Huskies made it a quick game on Saturday, sweeping the WolfPack in three straight sets. The win improved the Huskies’ record to 4-2, and the loss put the WolfPack’s record to 2-4 on the season.
The start of the first set was a continuation of Friday’s game, going point-for-point. TRU found themselves in a 19-15 lead later in the set, compelling head coach Mark Dodds to call a timeout for the Huskies to regroup. Shortly after, a big swing from Saskatchewan’s Taryn Hannah would even the game out again at 23. The two teams would again go point-for-point, with the Huskies coming out on top, taking the set 26-24 with a service ace from Hannah.
Saskatchewan found themselves in the lead for the majority of the second set, coming to match point (24-18) with an immense block by Julia Howell Bourner. TRU put up a fight with Faith Christanson at the service line, but the Huskies would go on and take the set 25-20 over the WolfPack with a kill from Abby Klein.
After two close sets, the Huskies kept the energy high, dominating the third. It would be an error on TRU’s end that would conclude the game, the Huskies winning the third set 25-18.
