ST. CATHARINES – The No. 2 Brock Badgers women’s volleyball team defeated the visiting Windsor Lancers in straight sets on Friday night at Bob Davis Gymnasium. Set scores in the Friday night match were 25-16, 25-14, 25-16.
The win is the fifth consecutive win for the Badgers as they remain undefeated to open the 2022-23 season.
Brock worked quickly in the first of two matches versus the Lancers this weekend. Several strong service runs saw the Badgers tally six service aces in the three set match, while also working efficiently at the net as four different Badgers were able to register a .400 or better attack percentage.
Leading the offence, Christina Jovetic notched nine kills on 12 attacks, adding three service aces and two block assists for a game-high 13 points. Meanwhile, finding success on the left side for the Badgers, Madison Chimienti finished the night with 11 points from 11 kills, converting 50 percent of her attacks in the win.
Brock setter Sara Rohr registered 29 total assists, while libero Aleiah Torres was everywhere defensively recording a game-high 17 digs.
Windsor was paced by Megan Gahima who finished with eight points from five kills, one service ace, and two solo blocks.
Brock and Windsor are right back in action tomorrow afternoon at the Bob Davis Gym. First serve for the second match of the weekend is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tickets for both matches are available for purchase at brocku.universitytickets.com, with the games also streamed on OUA.TV.
