Tryouts begin August 16: Athletes to register in MRS prior to attending club tryouts

Indoor tryouts for OVA club are just around the corner, and here are some friendly reminders for what athletes need.

With indoor tryouts beginning on Monday August 16, here are some friendly reminders of what athletes need to do prior to Monday.

Any new athlete to the OVA that does not currently have a membership with the Association, must create a profile and register as a free Tryout Player role in the Membership Registration System (MRS). This is to ensure that all waivers, including COVID-19 waivers, and Rowan’s law documentation is signed off on.  If these athletes continue to attend tryouts after September 1, they do not need to re-register as a Tryout Player. Their role will be carried over to the 2021-22 season.

Any athlete that currently is a member of the OVA and is registered in MRS, is not required to add the Tryout Player role to their account as they already have all document signed off on. As of September 1, they must register as a Tryout Player to sign off on the new seasons waivers.

After athletes make a team, they must register as a Recreational Player or Competitive Player prior to their teams first on court practice to be covered by insurance for the season.   Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, athletes can choose to stay as Recreational Players until prior to the first tournament they participate in.

All 4v4 Rallyball athletes are only required to have a Recreational Player membership role for the duration of the competitive season, unless they transition to the 6v6 Rallyball division, in which they will need to upgrade their membership to a Competitive Player.

All athletes attending Club Tryouts as of August 15 must verify with the Club at check-in that they have completed their membership with the OVA. This can be done by bringing a printed off copy of the transaction receipts, or simply showing their OVA account via their smartphone at the check-in desk.
