Road to Paris 2024: Sitting volleyball qualification process

Six spots have already been filled in the 16-team (8 teams per gender) Paris 2024 Paralympic Games sitting volleyball tournament. Here’s what you need to know about the Paralympic Qualification process for Paris 2024.

Which teams have already qualified?

HOSTS
As the host country, the men’s and women’s teams of France have already secured their quota spots.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Iran (M) and Brazil (W) have qualified as winners of the 2022 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

PAN AMERICAN ZONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Brazil (M) and the United States (W) have qualified as winners of the 2023 ParaVolley Pan America Zonal Championships in Edmonton, Canada.

How will the remaining positions be determined?

There are 10 remaining positions to be determined. The following competitions will determine one winner for each gender:

ASIA OCEANIA ZONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Men: Winner or highest placed non-qualified team of the Zonal Championship
Women: Winner of the Zonal Championship

AFRICA ZONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS (African Para Games)
Men: Winner of the Zonal Championship
Women: Winner of the Zonal Championship

EUROPE ZONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Men: Winner or highest placed non-qualified team of the Zonal Championship
Women: Winner or highest placed non-qualified team of the Zonal Championship

WORLD CUP
Men: Winner or highest placed non-qualified team of the World Cup
Women: Winner or highest placed non-qualified team of the World Cup

FINAL QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENTS
Men: Winner of the Final Qualification Tournament
Women: Winner of the Final Qualification Tournament
