Registration Now Open for Phase 2 of Team Manitoba Indoor Training

Registration is now open for Phase 2 of Team Manitoba’s Indoor Program.

The focus of all Team Manitoba training this summer will be on building skills and preparing for the future. For the second consecutive summer, there will be no competitions to attend but we will strive to introduce athletes to what Team Manitoba is all about.  When the time comes to return to the court, we want to make sure the next generation of Team Manitoba is ready.

Registration is now open for Phase 2 of Team Manitoba’s Indoor Program. NOTE: Participation in Phase 1 of Team Manitoba’s Indoor Program is NOT for registration for Phase 2.

Phase 2 – August 16-19, 2021. $125 + GST per week

Phase 2 will be held indoors at Sport Manitoba.  The focus will be on building all around skills and will progress some of the concepts covered in Phase 1.  Following the indoor RTP guidelines, each session will have a maximum of 15 athletes per court for 90 minutes of on court training.

The week will feature 4 – 90-minute training sessions typical of a Team Manitoba training week. Like Phase 1, athletes should be willing to explore new concepts and techniques. Each session will cover some specific skill concepts and progress into situational team drills and eventually game play. Players should be prepared to work on all skills for a portion of the practice as well as activities designed for their preferred position. Athletes will be asked for their primary and secondary position when registering to have a representation of all positions in each group if possible.

I am not sure what position I want to play, or I want to try a different position. What should I do?

Indicate what position is your main interest and then which ones you want to try on the registration form. Depending on the number of athletes in each position, the coaches may ask you to try a few reps doing something new. Our goal is to help you grow as a player.

All sessions will be led by Provincial Performance Coach Scott Koskie and Volleyball Manitoba coaches.

What ages will be eligible for Phase 2 training and at what times?

Girls born in 2004-2005                  9:15-10:45

Girls born in 2006-2007                  11:15-12:45

Boys born in 2004 – 2007               1:15-2:45

*Athletes of different birth years training at the same time will train on separate courts initially. Athletes may be asked to move courts to ensure they are training at an appropriate level.
