Men’s National Excellence Program announces 2022 athletes

June 23, 2022: Following an extensive athlete identification process, Volleyball Canada has announced the 13 athletes that have been selected to the 2022 Men’s National Excellence Program (NEP).

“We are extremely excited about the direction of this program,” said Dan Lewis, Head Coach of the NEP program. “One of the keys to competing internationally is skill acquisition and the foundational structure of these players, so to have this concentrated group of young but high-level athletes is such an important step for the development of their profiles as well as the National Team system as a whole.”

The NEP provides a full-time, daily training environment, in line with the Men’s Senior National Team training, to Grade 10 to 12 male athletes from September to December 2022.

The program also provides competition opportunities for the players, strength and conditioning, nutrition education, mental performance and well-being support, and ongoing educational support.

“We are very grateful for all that applied and showed interest,” added Lewis. “We are thrilled to be able to welcome these selected athletes to our training environment come September!”

The men’s NEP is based in Gatineau, Quebec.
