LALLY SET TO JOIN BLUES IN 2023-24

The Varsity Blues women’s volleyball program is pleased to announce that Kate Lally has signed her letter of intent and committed to competing for the Varsity Blues beginning in the 2023-24 season.

“Kate is someone who embraces challenges, loves working hard and competing and will have a positive impact on our program,” said Varsity Blues head coach Kristine Drakich. “She is a versatile setter who enjoys running an offense and is passionate about both academics and volleyball, making U of T is great fit for her.”

“Kate’s love of volleyball, her competitive spirit and her willingness to be challenged will help her thrive both on and off the court.”

A multi-sport athlete, Lally comes to the Blues with no shortage of accomplishments to her name.

The 5-foot-9 setter from State College, Pennsylvania has earned numerous awards during her high school career. In volleyball, she was named the 2021 offensive player of the year, while also being named to the 2021 District 6 All Star Team, 2021 Commonwealth Conference First Team and the 2021 PennLive All-Star Team. She was also a national qualifier in high jump, triple jump and long jump in 2020.

“The University of Toronto is a world class university and I will have the opportunity to study with experts in their fields,” Lally said. “I am also very excited about the opportunity to play volleyball with a very successful team and coaching staff.”

“As a dual citizen, I am also looking forward to exploring Toronto and other parts of Canada.”

Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
