Friday Night Spike Night

Week 10 of the regular season opens with a pair of women’s volleyball matches with plenty on the line with just three weeks left.

Douglas Royals @ VIU Mariners – Friday February 3, 6:00pm | WATCH HERE

The top team in the Conference; the VIU Mariners continue to roll and are coming off a bye week while the Douglas Royas are starting to heat up, winning four straight as they open their final road weekend of the regular season.

In their only other weekend meeting this year, the Mariners took care of business, winning both matches, dropping just one set. Since losing that one set they have won five in a row with four-three set sweeps. They continue to look like a women’s volleyball juggernaut.

Since their loss to the Mariners the Royals have won four of their last five matches, including four straight, their last two courtesy of the sweep. They sit comfortably in the third spot, chasing the idle Camosun Chargers by just four points.

The Blues have been playing better as of late and are coming off a win last weekend over the COTR Avalanche. They also pushed the defending national champion Mariners to their only fifth and final set this year which happened two weeks ago.

As for the Bearcats, their lone win this season came at Capilano, the final match before the holiday break.  They took out the Blues with a three-set sweep in late November. Since then, they have lost four straight, winning just one set.
