CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS OPEN SEASON OCT. 21

LANGLEY, B.C. – The Canada West champion Trinity Western men’s volleyball team returns to the Canada West floor Oct. 21 when the Spartans will host Manitoba for the first of a weekend set at the Langley Events Centre.

The Spartans, who went 15-1 in the regular season in 2021-22, will play their first-ever road series against UFV Oct. 28-29 before a two-match set back home against Calgary, who comes to Langley for a regular season series for the first time since 2018 (Nov. 30-Dec. 1).

A home-and-home series with UBC Nov. 25-26 – TWU hosts Friday and UBC hosts Saturday – will see the Spartans put a six-match winning streak on the line against their provincial rivals.

Following the Christmas break, Alberta comes to Langley Jan. 6-7 for a series no one will want to miss. The weekend set is a rematch of both the 2022 Canada West final, which TWU won, and the 2022 U SPORTS final, which the Bears took.

TWU will play four straight home matches from Jan. 27 to Feb. 11, with both Winnipeg and Thompson Rivers in town, before the Spartans wrap up the regular season with a trip to Brandon Feb. 17-18.

In line with pre-COVID playoff formats, the top eight teams will advance to best-of-three quarter-final series on Feb. 24-26 with the best-of-three semifinals slated for March 3-5. All playoff games will be hosted by the highest seeds in each match-up. All will be hoping to stay alive until March 10, when the conference championship will be determined in a winner-take-all match. A bronze medal game will also be scheduled on this date if needed to determine a representative for the U SPORTS championships.

The U SPORTS Women’s Volleyball Championship tournament is Mar. 16-19 and will be hosted by McMaster University.
