TORONTO– Calling everyone who loves beach volleyball! If you are looking to get your toes in the sand and raise money for an amazing cause look no further.

Shari Leavitt was only 29 years old when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in the fall of 2019.  After an intense battle for her life, in May of 2020, Leavitt was in remission. She is now reaching her two-year mark in remission and has been nominated for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Woman of the Year. Leavitt is running a 10-week campaign to raise as much money as possible for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.

Leavitt happens to be the best friend of former National team setter and One Volleyball Co-founder Jaki Ellis, who has rallied around her friend and is spearheading Shari’s campaign team for the Women of the Year recognition. Ellis has organized a beach volleyball tournament to raise awareness around blood cancer as well as raise $10,000 which will be donated directly to LLSC.

Everyone who enters will not only donate and support an amazing cause but also have a fun day in the sun with a DJ blasting great music and every team that enters will receive a gift bag.

The tournament also includes a cash bar and giveaways such as Blue Jays Tickets, TFC tickets and much more!

Even if volleyball isn’t your strong suit but having a good time on the beach is, all are welcome to participate in the fun in the sun!

After being apart for almost 2 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, let’s join together as the strong tight-knit volleyball community we are and kick off the summer playing beach volleyball by supporting a resilient woman and a phenomenal cause.
